Welcome to Phelps Hospital, Northwell Health. Located in beautiful Sleepy Hollow, NY, our campus overlooks the Hudson River and the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. We occupy 69 lovely, green acres in one of the most historic parts of Westchester County. Sleepy Hollow is just 25 miles north of New York City, and is convenient for travelers on the Hudson Line of the Metro North train system. The Bee Line bus also stops at Phelps.

Phelps has a staff of over 2,000 healthcare professionals—all completely devoted to improving our community and providing comprehensive, compassionate care to the residents of the Hudson Valley and beyond. We are a not-for-profit community hospital.

We make every effort to ensure a safe, modern, and comfortable environment for all our patients. We want you to feel like Phelps is your home away from home, because we understand that a low-stress environment is important for healing.

We take pride in providing a number of amenities for our patients. Here are just some of the services we provide to make your stay here the best it can be:

Free Parking
All lots and garages at Phelps are free of charge. Designated handicap spots are available.

Electronic Hospital Beds
Our beds are controlled electronically and may be adjusted for maximum comfort. You will be instructed on how they work when you are admitted.

Convenient Call Buttons
Call buttons are provided to every patient so you may contact your nurse. This will be explained upon admission.

Interpreters and Assistance for the Hearing Impaired
Phelps provides interpreting services for free, for patients who require assistance communicating. Notify your nurse if you need an interpreter.

Our hearing-impaired patients who require assistance may call the operator (0) and request support.

Daily Housekeeping
Patient rooms are cleaned every day.

Free Wireless Internet
Our free Wi-Fi, PMHguest, is available throughout the hospital.

Free TV & Telephone Service
We provide TV, telephone, Internet, and Wi-Fi services free of charge. On the TVs in patient rooms, we offer a variety of free educational videos in addition to Movies on Demand. These may be purchased for a $5 fee for each 24-hour period. 20 movies are available in English and Spanish. For more information regarding this service, please refer to your Patient Guide.

Convenient Food & Drink
Our room service program makes it quick and easy for patients to order meals at any time between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm (see Food & Nutrition for more information). We also offer a wide selection of hot and cold meals, snacks, and beverages in our cafeteria on the Ground Level (G), which open 7 days a week, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are located across from the main elevators on the Ground Level as well as in the SurgiCenter reception area, on the 3rd floor of the 755 building.

Pastoral Care
Regardless of your faith or religion, hospital chaplains are available for the support of all patients at Phelps. This office can also help you contact your community clergy if you cannot contact them directly. Roman Catholic clergy and Eucharistic ministers also visit the hospital every day.

The Phelps Chapel is located on the first floor, near Radiology, and is open 24 hours a day. It is nondenominational and is available to all patients for prayer and meditation.

There is a cash machine located near the cafeteria on the Ground Level (G).

All packages, gifts, and mail will be delivered to your room by one of our volunteers. Anything that arrives after your discharge will be forwarded to your home. If you have outgoing mail, you may give it to your attending nurse to be mailed. Postage is available at the gift shop and the Community Pharmacy in the 777 building, 1st floor.

Our exceptional Hospitality Services team is here for you

At Phelps, we value the safety and comfort of our patients as much as we value their right to quality medical service. Our Hospital Representatives are responsible for ensuring that the needs of our patients are met, including the need for emotional support. A staff member from Hospitality Services will visit you several times per day and will ensure that you have someone to lean on during your stay.

Hospitality Representatives visit most inpatient units, as well as Ambulatory Surgery, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the Infusion Center, and the Wound Healing Institute. They also perform meal rounds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a coffee and tea service for all of our hospital units on weekday afternoons. Hospitality Services is active 7 day a week, between 6:30 am and 7:30 pm on hospital units, and between 7:30 am and 11:30 pm in the Emergency Department.

Our Hospitality Services team is an indispensable part of our hospital. Our Hospitality Representatives ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay for all of our patients.

We’re proud to offer delicious, fresh, healthy food at Phelps Hospital. Our executive chef is Andrew Cain, a Michelin star chef from the Fairmont Mission Inn and Spa in Sonoma, California. Chef Cain has established a reputation for his ability to turn regional foods into flavorful dishes.

Our room service program makes it quick and easy for patients to order meals at any time between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm. The staff members in our Call Center can help patients choose meals that fit their dietary requirements as laid out by their doctor. There are no refrigerators in patient rooms, so perishable food brought in by family cannot be stored. Any uneaten, outside food should be sent home with your visitors.
