Phelps Hospital and the Town of Mount Pleasant invite the public to participate in the First Annual Autumn Games for Seasoned Adults to take place on Saturday, September 10, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. The games will take place at The Mount Pleasant Community Center, located at 125 Lozza Drive, Valhalla.
Autumn Games for Seasoned Adults is a day full of activities for Westchester residents age 55+. Autumn Games is a unique event with games and athletic challenges that will give participants an enjoyable experience and inspire more active, healthy lifestyles.
Autumn Games offers an opportunity for people of all fitness levels. Participants can engage in competitive events such as badminton, pickleball, swim races, shuffleboard and a 5K race or non-competitive events such as bocce ball, an obstacle course and a scavenger hunt. Each of the events will take place at different times throughout the day. A schedule of events and registration forms can be found at www.phelpsevents.org.
Physical activity is essential to healthy aging. Regular physical activity can alleviate many health problems, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and can strengthen muscles, which can help you prevent falls. Even for those with physical limitations, some physical activity is better than none at all. Autumn Games is a wonderful opportunity to get some exercise, no matter your fitness level.
Family and friends are welcome. There will be music, a synchronized swimming demonstration, and opportunities to enjoy the Phelps Pavilion, where activities such as Tai chi and Zumba will occur throughout the day. Food is available for purchase at the concession stand. Whether you participate in an event or cheer on your friends and family, you’re bound to find this an enjoyable day.
