The Childbirth Experience/LaMaze Method: Taught by Certified Childbirth Educators on the Phelps Birthing Center nursing staff Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, 7:30-9:30 pm for 5-6 weeks. Weeknight Lamaze Classes are scheduled to begin on the following dates:

2011 Evening Lamaze Series
(Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 9:30 pm, 5-6 sessions)

ABC's of Baby Care

A 2-1/2 - 3 hour class offered 3 - 4 times each month. Class size is limited.
7 pm in the 4th floor OB Classroom

ABC's of Baby Care for Adoptive Parents A 2-1/2 - 3 hour class;

Childbirth Preparation Refresher/VBAC Preparation: Discussion about changes between first and subsequent birth; relaxation & breathing techniques. Practical labor management strategies for parents who have previously given birth by cesarean and now anticipate a vaginal birth. Followed by a tour of the Birthing Center & Maternity Unit.

Big Brother/Big Sister: Sibling Preparation, Young children prepare for the arrival of baby. Appropriate for children 3-8 years of age.

Totsaver Program: This 6-8-hour Totsaver Program consists of the American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends/ Pediatric as well as a Safety and Accident Prevention component. This class is physically demanding and should not be taken during the last trimester of pregnancy. Prior review of course materials is required. 1st Saturday of each month
9 am - approximately 2 pm, 4th Floor Maternity Classroom

Prenatal Clinic: Phelps Memorial Hospital Center and Open Door Family Medical Center, participants in the Medicaid Prenatal Care Assistance Program, jointly sponsor a Prenatal Program. Care for expectant mothers is provided by a highly trained, caring, bilingual staff. No one is turned away based on income or health insurance. Women are encouraged to seek prenatal care early in their pregnancy.

Care is provided at Open Door during the first 36 weeks of pregnancy and at Phelps Memorial Hospital during the remainder of the pregnancy and for delivery.

Atención Prenatal: Phelps Memorial Hospital Center en Sleepy Hollow y Open Door Family Medical Center, participantes en el Programa de Asistencia de Atención Prenatal de Medicaid, auspician conjuntamente un Programa Prenatal. La atención de mujeres embarazadas es provista por un personal bilingüe y solidario, altamente capacitado. No se rechaza a nadie basándose en sus ingresos económicos o seguro.

Se alienta a las mujeres a recibir atención prenatal lo más temprano posible durante su embarazo. La atención es provista en Open Door durante las primeras 36 semanas del embarazo y en Phelps Memorial Hospital durante el resto del embarazo y el parto.
