Thoracic Center
Overview
Phelps Memorial Hospital’s Thoracic Center offers advanced and minimally invasive chest surgery. The Thoracic Center specializes in conventional and thoracoscopic surgery for malignant and benign diseases affecting organs inside the chest cavity except the heart. These include the lungs, esophagus, mediastinum, pleura, pericardium, diaphragm, and chest wall.
Back to TopHolistic Treatment
The Thoracic Center is a multidisciplinary service in which the thoracic surgeon works with internists, family medicine specialists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists and radiologists to provide prompt diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.
Back to TopOn-Site Surgeon
Patients benefit from the full-time presence of the Thoracic Center’s director, Avraham. D. Merav, MD. Evaluation of referred patients often begins on the same day and no later than 48 hours after a referral is made. Diagnostic evaluation proceeds with speed and is often completed within a few days. Patients don’t need to wait for weeks for an appointment and don’t have to travel between hospitals for diagnosis and treatment. Patients well into their 90s are among those who have benefited from the surgical expertise of the Center.
