Betty Albertson of Sleepy Hollow Elected to Phelps Board of Directors
(August 1, 2013) Betty Albertson of Sleepy Hollow was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, a 238-bed community hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
Mrs. Albertson is a founding resident of Kendal on Hudson, a continuing care retirement community located on the Phelps campus, where she has lived since it opened in 2005. A graduate of Hofstra University, Mrs. Albertson worked as an elementary school teacher.
Throughout her life she has volunteered in healthcare settings. For over 30 years she was at Glen Cove Hospital on Long Island, and for 20 of those years she volunteered to work with terminally ill patients. Since moving to Kendal, she volunteers at Phelps one day a week, and she served as Vice President of the Phelps Auxiliary for 2 years.
Mrs. Albertson has also served in other volunteer roles — for 10 years at the Garden Gift Shop at Planting Fields Arboretum, a New York State park; as a tutor at the Warner Library in Tarrytown for 7 years; and as a co-pilot and member of the welcoming committee at Kendal on Hudson. She has held volunteer leadership positions at both local community organizations and for PEO, a national women’s organization.
