(July 16, 2013) Lawrence Faltz, MD, MACP, Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, has been appointed Clinical Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College.
“I have known Dr. Larry Faltz since we were classmates in the early 1960s at the Bronx High School of Science. He is a great clinician, teacher, academic leader and researcher who is a credit to our medical school and our profession,” said William H. Frishman, MD, the Barbara and William Rosenthal Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at New York Medical College.
“It is a privilege to be chosen for this position at New York Medical College,” said Dr. Faltz of the appointment. “I have a passion for teaching and believe that teaching makes doctors better at their craft.”
Dr. Faltz will continue his work at Phelps, including working with the NYMC Phelps Family Medicine Residency Program, which he was instrumental in founding.
Before he came to Phelps in 1994, Dr. Faltz was Chairman of Medicine, Chief of Rheumatology, and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at New York Hospital Queens. He also served as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and previously held faculty appointments at New York University School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
In addition to his activities at Phelps, Dr. Faltz had been Chairman of the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association Patient Safety Institute and is a member of the Quality Steering Committee of the Hospital Association of New York State. He is a Master and former Governor of the American College of Physicians, the national internal medicine specialty organization.
Dr. Faltz is a resident of Larchmont, New York.
