Mary McDermott Named Chief Nursing Officer at Phelps
(May 9, 2013) Mary McDermott, MSN, RN, ANP, NE-BC, has been appointed to the position of Chief Nursing Officer at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, with overall responsibility for all nursing services and policies. McDermott came to Phelps from Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan,where, as Assistant Vice President of Nursing, she developed and implemented strategic plans for nursing, including building, equipment, technology, performance improvement and patient care programs. Prior to that position, she served as Administrative Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing for Professional Practice Programs, also at Hospital for Special Surgery.
McDermott holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Adelphi University, a Master of Science in nursing from College of Mount Saint Vincent, a post-Master’s certificate in nursing administration from Villanova University, and a Wharton Nursing Leaders Program certificate from the Wharton School.
