Phelps Memorial Hospital Center Appoints Six New Board Members
(June 15, 2012) Kenneth Miller of Chappaqua, Diane Potter of Irvington, Rebecca Srole of Sleepy Hollow, Christy Joyce, M.D., of Ossining, and Briarcliff Manor residents Richard Peress, M.D., and Louis Wachtel were recently elected to the Phelps Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. Members of the Board serve a three-year term and may serve up to three terms.
Kenneth Miller is an attorney with the firm Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston and Rosen, P.C. in New York City. The firm represents banks, commercial finance companies and other institutional lenders. Mr. Miller earned his B.A. degree Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University and graduated from Cornell Law School with a J.D. degree Cum Laude in 1975. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association and the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys.
Diane Potter is a Consumer Marketing Director for the Bonnier Corporation, one of the largest consumer publishing groups in America and the U.S. division of the international media group known as the Bonnier Group. She is responsible for magazine circulation profit and loss for Working Mother, Ski, Skiing, Saveur, Garden Design, Popular Photography, American Photo and Sound & Vision magazines. Previously, Ms. Potter held positions with Working Mother Media, G+J USA Publishing, American Express Publishing, Times Mirror Magazines, Inc., and Time, Inc. Ms. Potter earned her B.A. at the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Rebecca Srole is a Senior Vice President with Chase Healthcare Banking, which specializes in providing financial services to healthcare and not-for-profit organizations. Ms. Srole is a Team Leader and Division Manager in Chase Commercial Bank’s Not for Profit Group. Ms. Srole earned her B.A. degree Cum Laude from Brandeis University and an M.B.A. and M.P.H. from Columbia University.
Dr. Christy Joyce has been a senior attending physician in internal medicine at Phelps since 1992. Dr. Joyce completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital Medical Center. She is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Joyce is a member of the American College of Physicians, New York State Society of Internal Medicine, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Richard Peress is currently Director of the Department of Surgery at Phelps and has been with the hospital since 1987. Dr. Peress earned his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1981 and completed his residency in general surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital Center. A specialist in spinal surgery, Dr. Peress is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has lectured widely on orthopedic surgical procedures.
Louis Wachtel is Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Spectrum Realty Capital, Inc., a retail real estate, consulting and private equity capital firm located in Tarrytown. Prior to Spectrum, Mr. Wachtel was President of Penfield Retail Services Inc. and was a consultant to the State of Israel through the nonprofit organization, American Trade and Industrial Development for Israel. Mr. Wachtel’s charitable activities have included serving on the advisory board of the Walt Frasier Youth Foundation. He was a founding member of the United States Holocaust Museum and served as a founding member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.
