Phelps Gastroenterology Practice Achieves Accreditation for Ambulatory Healthcare
(December 22, 2011) Phelps Medical Associates (formerly Westchester Gastroenterology Associates) has received a three-year term of accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Phelps Medical Associates includes the medical practices of gastroenterologists Floyd Byfield, MD, Barry Field, MD, and Chris Martin, MD. The practice is affiliated with Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.
Phelps Medical Associates has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality healthcare; the majority of medical practices do not undertake accreditation and the rigorous on-site survey process.
“Tremendous effort was made to prepare for the site visit, and the effort produced fantastic results,” stated Daniel Blum, Senior Vice President of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center. “This accreditation by AAAHC is an impartial validation of our achievements. I am so very proud of our physicians, staff, and hospital. We truly are committed to safety, patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.”
Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey process focuses on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
